What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the mid 1900’s that focuses on balancing the body through core strength, flexibility and better movement awareness. Pilates addresses the entire body as a whole system - building strength, balance, flexibility and improving posture and body awareness. Regular Pilates will help correct any asymmetries and weaknesses as well as improve muscle recruitment patterns, thereby minimising injuries and degenerative wear and tear on joints.
Benefits of practicing Pilates include:
• Increased core strength and muscle tone.
• Increased flexibility and mobility.
• Better balance and body awareness.
• Improved spine length and posture.
• A better mind-body connection.
